Real glass shatters. It breaks into sharp, jagged pieces that can cause injury. Acrylic does not behave the same way. It is much more resistant to impact. If an acrylic trophy is dropped, it is far less likely to break, and even if it does chip or crack, it does not create the same sharp fragments that real glass does.
